Secret Santa has always been a tradition here at Founder Shield, but this year we added a new one. The inaugural “Foundies” awards were held last month hosted by a festive Benji and Carl. Here’s a small taste of the winners.

We had a great time caroling and hanging out with the patients at Metropolitan Hospital in NYC on our December day of service.

ReShield, our division focused on the real estate and property management space, got a facelift! Check out the new website here.

• Rideshare IPOs – Some of the most intense speculation for 2019 IPOs surrounds the ridesharing giants. Lyft filed their S1 with the SEC on December 6th, flying somewhat under the radar, while Uber filed the very next day. Coincidence?

• Austin Apples – Apple is investing $1 billion in a new campus in Austin, TX, where it expects to create up to 15,000 jobs. It’s also setting up other large satellite offices in Seattle, San Diego, and the Los Angeles area.

• ECB Ends Easing – The European Central Bank announced it’s ending its quantitative easing program, a bond-buying bonanza that juiced the eurozone economy with $2.9 trillion over the last few years. So…did it work? For the most part. Inflation grew to hit targets, but the eurozone’s recovery lagged behind the U.S.

• OTC Giants – Pfizer and GSK announced they’re combining their consumer health care businesses and eventually spinning off the new joint venture—creating the world’s biggest over-the-counter medicine supplier in the process, with a combined $12.7 billion in sales
